The Ministry of Tourism awarded Georgi Kolevichin following his ascent of Everest

The senior legal advisor in the “Administrative and Legal Affairs” Directorate received a certificate of honor and a special gift from the Minister of Tourism, Dr. Ilin Dimitrov, for conquering the world’s highest peak

Georgi Kolevichin, an official of the Ministry of Tourism, was welcomed by the Ministry’s team following his successful ascent of the highest point on the planet—Mount Everest (8,848.86 m). For his achievement, he received a certificate of honour and an icon of St. George the Victorious from the Minister of Tourism, Dr. Ilin Dimitrov.

In addition to being a personal success, the conquest of Everest was also hailed as a source of pride for the ministry and for Bulgaria as a tourist destination, which Kolevichin has represented during his expeditions around the world. “This is a success for all of us. Everywhere I go, I talk about Bulgaria, its nature, and the tourism opportunities we offer. I strove to be a worthy ambassador for our country,” Georgi Kolevichin said.

Minister Dimitrov emphasized that his example shows how perseverance, preparation, and courage lead to real results. “We’re proud of you. There’s nothing more valuable than having someone on the Ministry of Tourism’s team who carries with them a love for the mountains, nature, and Bulgaria. Keep dreaming boldly and making your dreams come true,” the Minister said. As a symbol of appreciation, Georgi Kolevichin received an icon of Saint George the Victorious for health and protection on his future expeditions, as well as a certificate of honour.

The mountaineer told his colleagues about the preparation and challenges involved in climbing Everest. He emphasized the importance of a long acclimatization period, physical training, and precise equipment, without which such expeditions would not be possible. With this achievement, Georgi Kolevichin joins the ranks of the 17 Bulgarians who have reached the roof of the world.
