More direct flights from Germany to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast in the summer of 2027

The Ministry of Tourism is attracting new routes from Corendon Airlines and ICC, and is also in talks with Condor

A significant expansion of air connectivity between Germany and Bulgaria is expected during the summer season of 2027. New flight schedules will provide additional capacity from key German airports to Varna and Burgas.

“Flights, flights, flights—that’s our goal! We want Bulgaria to be more accessible to tourists from Germany, and together with the airlines, we want to establish new direct routes to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast,” Minister of Tourism Dr. Ilin Dimitrov said.

Corendon Airlines will operate flights from Cologne/Bonn to Varna and Burgas, as well as from Nuremberg and Stuttgart to Varna. These flights are scheduled to run from May through September 2027.

ICC will also provide significant additional capacity. From May 9 to October 3, 2027, the airline will connect Hanover, Düsseldorf, and Leipzig/Halle with Varna and Burgas. At least two flights per week are scheduled from each of the three airports to the two coastal airports, while three flights per week are planned on the Hanover–Burgas and Leipzig/Halle–Burgas routes. Thus, the schedule will include at least 14 flights per week.
The launch of the ICC program coincides with the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest in Burgas. The first flight from Germany to Burgas is scheduled for May 9.

The new routes complement those of established carriers such as Eurowings, Discover Airlines, TUIfly, Sundair, Freebird, Wizz Air, and others, thereby expanding and diversifying travel options to Bulgaria.

The Ministry of Tourism continues to work actively with airlines, tour operators, and airport operators to attract additional air capacity and launch new direct routes for the 2027 season. In close partnership with Fraport Twin Star Airport Management, efforts are underway to attract new airlines and develop air connectivity at the airports in Varna and Burgas.

Active discussions are underway regarding the inclusion of Bulgaria in Condor’s route network, which would help further diversify the offerings available on the German market and reach new groups of tourists.

Eurovision 2027 in Burgas also creates additional potential for increasing air traffic to Bulgaria. The international event is expected to attract visitors from a number of European markets and stimulate demand for additional transportation and tourism services.

Expanding air connectivity is a key prerequisite for increasing tourist traffic from Germany and improving access to Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast.
