Minister of Tourism Irena Georgieva held a meeting with representatives of the Bulgarian Association of Travel Agencies, Association of Tour Operators and Travel Agents "Union - Future of Tourism", the Tourism Association, the Association of Incoming Agencies, and the Association of Bulgarian Tour Operators and Travel Agents, as well as with representatives of the Ministry of Tourism. During the meeting, the parties discussed the challenges confronting the sector, preparations for the summer season, matters concerning the Tourist Guarantee Fund, oversight and measures to combat the shadow economy, as well as marketing policy and issues relating to major foreign markets.

Minister Georgieva emphasized that, notwithstanding the limited duration of the caretaker government’s mandate, its commitment to ensuring stability and predictability in the operation of the tourism sector remains unchanged. "For me, the stability of the industry is of paramount importance." "We will endeavour to ensure that the sector is confident prior to the commencement of the summer season," she said. Issues related to the Tourism Guarantee Fund were also discussed, including its scope and the method of securing it. Minister Georgieva noted that the bill had passed its first reading and that the text could be refined between the first and second readings based on proposals from the industry. Possibilities for joint inspections and a public awareness campaign targeting consumers were discussed in connection with efforts to curb the gray market.

The industry also raised the issue of the limited number of flights originating from the German market and the resulting impact on the upcoming season. Kalin Sutev of the Association of Incoming Agencies stated that the reduced flight capacity available to German tourists will have a direct impact and may result in difficulties in maintaining competitive pricing. In response, the Minister emphasized that the relevant activities are being carried out within an extended budget; however, the national marketing program is being implemented, and our participation in international exhibitions remains guaranteed. She stated that opportunities will be pursued to support the sector through advertising and marketing measures, and that consultations with the industry will continue.
