"We have managed to secure 100 scholarships for Bulgarian students to study at the UN Tourism Online Academy of the UN World Tourism Organization and the most prestigious educational institutions in the world," Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh said at the opening of the 41st edition of the Holiday & SPA Expo 2025 - the largest tourism exhibition in Bulgaria.

The Minister stressed that the development of human capital is no less important than the construction of infrastructure or the creation of new tourism products. "These scholarships are an investment in the future of Bulgarian tourism, because they will enable our specialists to train in key areas such as digital transformation in tourism, destination marketing, event management and sustainable development," Miroslav Borshosh added.

Minister Borshosh negotiated the scholarships for Bulgarian students personally with the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili during his visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of the Ministry of Tourism. The occasion for the visit was the signing of a letter of intent for Bulgaria to host the Ninth UN Tourism Global Wine Tourism Conference.

UN Tourism Online Academy is a global platform created in 2019 during the 23rd General Assembly of UN Tourism and offers 38 online courses in several languages, including English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Chinese. The academy currently has nearly 30,000 participants enrolled from around the world.

The 100 scholarships for Bulgaria were announced in the opening speech of Miroslav Borshosh on the first day of the largest tourism exhibition in the country, which brings together representatives of the tourism sector from Bulgaria and the world, providing an opportunity to create new partnerships, exchange ideas and present the latest trends in the industry.

Minister Borshosh stressed that the forum is proof of the dynamic development of Bulgarian tourism and the country's readiness to meet the modern challenges. "The Holiday & SPA Expo is the place where the foundations of new partnerships, successful projects and innovative ideas are laid that will strengthen our position on the world tourism map," the Minister of Tourism added.

This year, the exhibition at Inter Expo Center, supported by the Ministry of Tourism, is represented by over 240 participants, including leading tour operators, municipalities, hotels, national and regional tourist boards of different countries, and the beautiful stand of Bulgaria will welcome visitors until March 11.
