Fortified Home of a Ruler, Sinemorets village

It is situated on a natural hill, at the mouth of the Veleka River, near the village of Sinemorets, Tsarevo Municipality. It is a Thracian royal house, protected by a fortified wall and a tower built in the way described by Xenophon.

About 200 m away from the site is a Thracian hill, where one of the richest Hellenistic graves on the territory of Bulgaria was studied in 2006.

Discovered archaeological artefacts - Greek and Thracian ceramics, coins, etc. show that the home was inhabited in the late-Hellenistic era -2nd century BC. It is believed that a local Thracian ruler, who controlled the extraction and trade of the ore in Strandzha, lived there with his family.

The building survived until the beginning of the 1st century BC without being seriously damaged, when in certain dramatic events, a coin treasure of silver tetradrachma was buried next to the outer wall of the tower. It was discovered in 2012. The presence of a large number of very rare coins of the mysterious Thracian king Mostis is the most significant and sensational fact. The treasure is exhibited at the Municipal Historical Museum - Tsarevo.

Later, during the Ottoman period (18th-19th century), a building was erected over the remains of the home. The study of the fortified rulers' home continues.
