“St. Prophet Elijah” Temple, Bozhentsi village

The temple “St. Prophet Elijah”is located on the reserve territory. The temple was built in 1839. The temple was built in the high part of the village Bozhentsi. Both exterior and interior are impressive. The temple is built entirely of stone masonry with a thickness of 80 cm. In 1895 the bell tower was built.

The church is a three-nave pseudo-basilica with a semicircular apse. The ceilings are arched. The iconostasis was the work of Nedyalko and Tsaniu Ganchevi, nephews of Usta Gencho Kanev.

The village also offers reproductions of Traditional Bulgarian Festivals such as Gergyovden, Christmas, Lazarovden. Accommodation is available for tourists in the houses of Bozhentsi, which offer accommodation in an authentic 19th century atmosphere.

Transport accessibility: Road, public transport from the bus station in Gabrovo. There is a parking lot near Historical and Architectural Reserve “Bozhentsi”.
