The Clock Tower, Berkovitsa

The tower is in the centre of Berkovitsa and it isthe most distinctive architectural and cultural monument of the region. It is one of the oldest clock towers in Bulgaria (built 1762 - 1764) which have working clock-mechanism. The square body (11.80 meters high) was built of stones cemented with mortar. There are 9 horizontal wooden belts. Four narrow vertical slits are left to illuminate the interior. And today it continues to measure accurate time with its bell ring.
