Minister Miroslav Borshosh at a second working meeting in Brussels with Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva
During his visit to Brussels today, Minister Miroslav Borshosh also held a working meeting with Ms Ekaterina Zaharieva, the Bulgarian Commissioner for Start-ups, Research and Innovation, where they discussed the opportunities for investment in research and innovation, as well as the use of innovation hubs for the development of companies in tourism.
They discussed policies and measures that aim to support the implementation of innovations in the Bulgarian tourism business in the context of the challenges posed by the green and digital transformation.
"Innovation in the sector, as elsewhere, is the result of collaborative action between government, academia, business, investors and start-ups. One of my long-term goals is to position Bulgaria as a year-round competitive tourist destination by promoting sustainability and introducing innovations in the sector," the Tourism Minister told Commissioner Zaharieva.
“Introducing innovation in the tourism sector and creating a successful entrepreneurial ecosystem requires connecting all stakeholders with opportunities for collaboration and prioritizing capacity building,” Miroslav Borshosh said.
The Minister of Tourism and the Bulgarian Commissioner laid the foundations for this good dialogue and agreed on Bulgaria's merits, which make it an attractive destination for investments in tourism and bring it closer to the centre of the European investment map.
