A new Tourism Coordination Unit to be established within the Burgas Regional Administration

At a press conference held earlier today at the Burgas Regional Administration, Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh, Regional Governor of Burgas Vladimir Krumov, and the mayors of the coastal municipalities of Nessebar, Pomorie, Burgas, Sozopol, Primorsko, and Tsarevo came together to present a unified tourism promotion strategy for the region under a single joint tourism product. It was announced that a specialized Tourism Coordination Unit will be created within the Burgas Regional Administration. In cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism, the unit will coordinate tourism initiatives among the municipalities, aiming to synchronize event calendars, particularly cultural and tourism-related activities, in order to avoid fragmenting tourist flows. “We are doing something that has been long anticipated. Organizing large-scale festivals is a complex task, and the state’s goal is to support municipalities that host such major events — events that elevate the Southern Black Sea coast to a new level,” said Minister Miroslav Borshosh.

All participants highlighted the importance of cooperation — both among municipalities and with the state — as a key factor for developing tourism in the region. The opportunities to extend the active summer season through the organization and promotion of major local festivals and sports events, as well as ideas for joint advertising campaigns and the creation of a unified tourism calendar, were among the main topics and steps discussed by the participants, who were united by the common goal of presenting the Southern Black Sea coast as a single, integrated tourism product.

“Bulgarian municipalities — both those along the Southern Black Sea coast and those inland — offer a rich variety of tourism opportunities, connected to unique experiences that create lasting memories. We are here to demonstrate the state’s commitment and support for municipalities in organizing their cultural, festival, sporting, and other local events, which help extend the tourist season and attract more visitors throughout the year,” said Minister Miroslav Borshosh. The Ministry of Tourism has the tools to promote these events both nationally and internationally — for example, by including them in advertising and communication campaigns across its social media channels, which serve as a powerful marketing instrument. Through these platforms, non-traditional and lesser-known destinations can gain broad visibility and attract tourists from around the world. Presenting the Southern Black Sea coast as a unified tourism product will establish a recognizable image for the entire region, make its promotion more efficient, and increase its visibility and competitiveness on both domestic and international markets

The attending mayors presented their municipalities and key local events and initiatives, reaffirming the shared understanding of the need for united efforts and a common strategic framework for the development of this part of Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast.

“The Southern Black Sea coast has enormous tourism potential, and our strength lies in its diversity. Each municipality contributes something valuable, but if we want to be recognizable on the world stage, we must unite around a clear vision. The effort to create a shared tourism brand is truly worthwhile. My compliments to Minister Borshosh for taking concrete action in this direction. We have already proven that we can work together — this is the path toward stronger positioning of the region, united as one,” said Vladimir Krumov, Regional Governor of Burgas.

“With events such as Spice Music Festival, Apollonia, Prim Fest, and many others, I am convinced that our Southern Black Sea coast has the potential to become Bulgaria’s festival hub — one that will make a lasting contribution to the promotion of this unified tourism product and position the Southern Black Sea region in the modern competition among the most preferred destinations on both the Bulgarian and global tourism map. As the Ministry of Tourism, we will continue to support effective projects and initiatives that contribute to the development of individual local communities, in partnership with local authorities,” said Minister Miroslav Borshosh.
