Over 3.6 million were the foreign tourists in Bulgaria for the period January-June 2018, which is an increase by 8.9%

3 644 791 foreign tourists have chosen the destination Bulgaria for the first six months of 2018. Thus, for the period January - June, an increase by 8.9% was marked compared to the same period in 2017, according to data from the National Statistical Institute.

Only in June 2018, the foreign visits to Bulgaria were increased by 4.7% compared to the same month of the last year. In June 2018, 1 208 397 foreign tourists have visited our country.

The data confirms that the tourism growth is sustainable and Bulgaria is becoming a preferred destination, offering quality service at reasonable prices. It is very important for us that our guests, who saw the country for the first time, should come back again, said the Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova.

In the first place in the inbound tourism for the six months of 2018 was Romania with 575 609 visits, a 21.1% increase over the same period of the last year. Greece ranks second with 523 046 visits, and in third place was Turkey, from where 318 735 tourists came here.

Significant growth rates were noted by the markets included in the top 50 compared to the first six months of 2017. The UK visitors were by 19.2% more, the Polish tourists - by 38.4%, and the Israeli tourists - by 27.6%. From Ukraine, the increase was 24%, and from France and Spain, the number of foreign visits increased by 20.8 % and by 22.7 %, respectively.
